SARA ALFIERI is from Lincoln, Nebraska and currently pursuing an MFA in ceramics. By using old and new mechanisms of working, digital fabrication in tandem with hand-built vessels allows her work to highlight resistances while finding ways to connect their potentials. The processes within her work remain critically important; its qualities are intrinsic to the expression of the object. Questioning the traditional method for mold-making used in industrial production, Alfieri seeks variety within her work. This sense of variety can be found through a modular mold system in which she deconstructs and reassembles mold parts produced from computer-aided design (CAD) developed prototypes. This, along with her colored slip application on plaster molds allows for variation in both form and surface. Moving from a digital to a physical space has allowed Alfieri to develop a duality of languages that can be translated to her designed pots. In short, Alfieri believes the pot exists beyond its purpose of utility. Through her most recent means of making, she is able to design and produce pots that investigate this idea. Pottery is meaningful in the way it allows for both personal expression and proximity between object and user. Alfieri is interested in pottery as an ingress to an experience. A pot solicits interaction, not just viewing. The meaning of a pot changes through experience, gaining content through use. By exploring the intersections between craft and design, she hopes to enhance the art and act of dining with a sense of complexity and intention in each piece's form and surface.

Omaha's MADS ANDERSON likes to think of his work as a basis for sparking visual conversations, ones that engage viewers in dialogues about organization amid chaos-and vice versa. Anderson has always been fascinated by life's inherent dualities: the secure sameness that guides our everyday lives despite the underlying reality that anything, and everything, can change in an instant. Yet this chaos is in itself a constant, an unpredictability we can predict with absolute certainty. Through his paintings and sculptures, Anderson seeks to address this duality. He combines color, pattern, and line into fluidly dynamic compositions in which each stroke and mark-no matter how small and apparently inconsequential-is unequivocally integral to the whole. Each part speaks to another, each one echoing, answering, questioning, and provoking endless responses and counter responses. These are the visual conversations Anderson hopes to start, ones that he hopes are equally thoughtful, challenging, perplexing, and playful-and perhaps even a little maddening.

JO ARCHULETA is a painter living in Kansas City, Missouri. Archuleta's work explores the mythology of womanhood and the complexity of identity. She is interested in exploring leisure, desire, pleasure, and "the specificity as a state of being." The bodies, figures, and spaces in her paintings are inherently idiosyncratic, which celebrates not only the painstaking way the works are made, but also the uneasy cultural position they occupy. She is interested in the complexity within the vapidness of beauty, vanity, and ego. These figures often find themselves in states of repose, and she feels that it's her position to critically celebrate and criticize the history of that trope. JON AUSTIN is a ceramic artist focused on natural and biomorphic forms. Austin has always been inspired by nature and can often be found outside drawing inspiration or eagerly awaiting spring during frigid Nebraska winters. Handbuilding has been his favorite way of expressing himself with clay. Pinch and coil techniques allow him to create the organic forms seen in his body of work. JUSTIN BELLER is a mixed-media artist known for work that represents both the physicality of space and the metaphysics of dreamlike states. In his paintings and wall installations he uses vertical and horizontal lines, blocks of colors, abstract freeforms, and geometric shapes to distill the essence of earth, sky, and water and to open closed interior surroundings. Movement, form, freedom, and time are integral components of his work, and they all combine to expand and extend confined interior spaces.
In his paintings, Beller replicates smooth, water-like surfaces and boundless, open skies to absorb viewers into quieter, more contemplative worlds that, while focusing them in the present, go beyond limited time constraints. His elongated freestanding sculptures and tapered wall installations similarly create the illusion of greater openness by bringing viewers' gazes upwards and outwards. JESS BENJAMIN's imagination was trained in the irrigation ditches on the 100th Meridian and was one of the last to be educated in a two-room schoolhouse. Benjamin now lives in the city and has gained a balanced perspective on our nation's water and drought issues. Benjamin received her BA from Hastings College in 2001 and worked as a studio assistant for Jun Kaneko until 2006. In 2008, she received her MFA from Bowling Green State University, Ohio. BEXO paintings are collaborations of sisters Rexo Droppers and Betni Kalk. Kalk is a designer, painter, muralist, and graphic design professor. Droppers is a musician, photographer, and painter. JAMES BOCKELMAN is a professor of art at Concordia University Nebraska where he also serves as director of the Marxhausen Gallery of Art. He has been represented by Lo River Arts Gallery in Beacon, New York, the Karolyn Sherwood Gallery in Des Moines, and is currently represented by Circuitous Succession Gallery in Memphis, Modern Arts Midtown in Omaha, and Galerie Inga Kondeyne in Berlin. HANA BROCK is an Omaha-based oil painter whose practice focuses on how architecture and forgotten spaces can act as a mirror of human emotions, influencing feelings of grief, loneliness, and abandonment. Her attraction to liminal spaces stems from the fact that they are created for the purpose of human use. As time passes and people move on, the space remains, being left behind with a collection of memories. These unknowable histories inspire Brock to see structures as living, silently existing, and observing how we interact with them. Capturing these structures at night, stripped of human interaction, and incorporating artificial light is her way of further enhancing our connection to spaces.

ANN BRUGENHEMKE is a painter, pastel artist, and ceramic artist living in Council Bluffs, Iowa. RICHARD CHUNG (b. 1977, Honolulu, Hawaii) grew up in the California Bay Area. He received a bachelor's degree in studio art from the University of California, Berkeley, under the mentorship of Richard Shaw in 2001. Soon after college, Chung moved to Omaha, Nebraska, to work with renowned ceramic artist Jun Kaneko. During his time at Jun Kaneko Studio, he continued to develop and produce artwork, began showing his work through galleries, and received commissions from recognized public collections. His first solo show was in 2017 at the RNG Gallery in Council Bluffs. Chung continues to produce and exhibit work. His work is included in numerous private and public collections. As a ceramic artist, Chung's body of work consists of several series that he has developed over many years. His figurative work explores human emotions and connections, striving to convey their essence through the medium of clay. The Motion Series examines the transient nature of existence, inspired by his fascination with how time manifests and shapes our lives. Through these pieces, he aims to reflect the ever-changing human experience in its various moments. The dynamic lines in this series highlight the impermanence and constant motion inherent in life. The Figure Series delves into the lives of everyday people, and is a personal exploration where Chung seeks to convey our shared narratives. Rather than focusing on intricate details, He attempts to capture the liveliness and gestures that define the human experience. This approach allows him to highlight the broader aspects of human interaction and emotion. Chung's Smaller Works serve as experimental studies, offering him the freedom to explore color and surface treatments. They act as a playground for testing new ideas and techniques, contributing to the evolution of his larger works. Glaze Paintings, a recently developed series, recontextualizes traditional 2-D painting by using colored glazes as the primary medium. The imagery in these pieces are crafted entirely with glaze, showcasing the versatility and richness of this material. This approach reflects Chung's exploration of possibilities within ceramic art. All Chung's work is created solely using ceramic materials, occasionally employing epoxy to join larger pieces together.

PAMELA CONYERS-HINSON is a lifelong teacher and award-winning artist who continues to bring arts education to underserved communities throughout the Midwest. Currently, she oversees and directs Joslyn's Kent Bellows Mentoring Program, a space that utilizes intergenerational learning and mentorship.
Conyers-Hinson holds a Master of Arts in teaching, a master's in organizational leadership, and a Bachelor of Art in studio art. She is a classically trained sculptor using the lost wax method for bronze casting and the traditional methods for stone carving. Conyers-Hinson is interested in sustainability within the arts. This is evident by her use of experimental and natural mediums. Her work has been exhibited at KANEKO in Omaha, Nebraska; Wanda D. Ewing Gallery, Omaha, Nebraska; the Museum of Science & Industry, Chicago, Illinois; D'Art Center, Norfolk, Virginia; Peninsula Fine Art Center, Newport News, Virginia; South Gallery, New York, New York; PACE, Council Bluffs, Iowa; and THE ROOM Contemporary Art Space, Venice, Italy. Conyers-Hinson was a 2018 and 2021 Fellow at The Union For Contemporary Art in Omaha, Nebraska. Her artwork is included in numerous private collections.
Conyers-Hinson is a 2023 recipient of The Union for Contemporary Art Populus Fund Grant.
She was named Omaha Entertainment and Arts, 2021 Outstanding 3-D Artist and received The
Council of American Art Society, Award for Excellence in Representational Sculpture.

DEREK COURTNEY is a mixed-media artist living and working in Omaha, Nebraska. BOB CULVER is a painter from Omaha, Nebraska. He served on the Bemis board of directors for many years, currently serves on the board of Nebraska Cultural Endowment, and is former president of the Museum of Nebraska Art board of directors. His body of work is distinctive for its seamless weaving of close-to-home influences and worldwide events, inspired primarily by pop artists of the '60s and '70s with a dash of great portrait painters such as John Singer Sargent. He creates richly detailed paintings, 3-D cutouts, and automata that all work on multiple levels. Simultaneously culturally idealistic and socially critical, they provide insight into the artist and the subjects that have informed his creative practice over the past five decades. Culver's work has been featured in numerous private collections. He has exhibited in solo and group shows at Modern Arts Midtown, Omaha, Nebraska. Culver did two summer residencies at Kent State Blossom Center where he studied with Wayne Thiebaud, Alex Katz, Frank Gallo, Phillip Pearlstein, James Melchert, and Jack Tworkov and was a studio assistant with Red Grooms from 1969-1972. Culver received his BFA from the University of Nebraska.

DANCE DOYLE is an Oakland-based artist. Raised there during the '80s and '90s, they witnessed a gritty beauty that emerged from the city. That beautiful heavy environment has informed Doyle's work. They've never used a cartoon to aid her process. Doyle just draws a tiny picture, pins it to the castle of their loom, and works the rest out. Doyle has been an Artist-in-Resident at the Textile Arts Center in Brooklyn, New York, the Museum of Arts and Design in NYC, Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts in Omaha, Nebraska, Haystack Mountain School in Deer Isle, Maine, and at the Institute for Contemporary Art in San Francisco, California. While earning an MFA from California College of the Arts from 2021-2023, Doyle was awarded the Barclay Simpson, Murphy Cadogan, and the All-College Honors Award. Currently, Doyle is a Graduate Fellow at the Headlands Center for the Arts in Sausalito, California.

FALLEN FRUIT (DAVID ALLEN BURNS and AUSTIN YOUNG) create art that often engages public realms, historical archives, and commissioned artworks for museums. LAURIE FRICK uses data to examine what we can know about ourselves. DANA FRITZ is currently a Center for Great Plains Studies Fellow and Hixson-Lied Professor of Art in the School of Art, Art History & Design at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. RAMON GUZMAN is a Nebraska-based artist. Art is his passion and he has been creating for over fifteen years. Guzman has an associate degree in fine arts from Metropolitan Community College, which gave him the foundation to keep honing his craft. RAVEN HALFMOON is an artist and sculptor from Norman, Oklahoma. She is a citizen of the Caddo Nation and also Choctaw, Delaware, and Otoe Missouria. Working mainly in portraiture, Halfmoon hand-builds each work using a coil method. Her surfaces are expressive and show deep finger impressions and dramatic dripping glazes, a physicality that presences her as both maker and matter. She fuses Caddo pottery traditions-a history of making mostly done by women-with populist gestures, often tagging her work in a reference to Caddo tattooing.
Halfmoon holds a double bachelor's degree from the University of Arkansas, where she majored in ceramics/painting and cultural anthropology. In 2023, Halfmoon's solo exhibition, Flags of Our Mothers, was featured at The Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art (Ridgefield, Connecticut) and in 2024 at Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts. Halfmoon's next solo exhibition, Neesh & Soku (Moon & Sun), opened at Salon 94 (New York, New York) in September 2024.
Halfmoon's sculptures are in the permanent collections of the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami, and the Montclair Art Museum. In 2023, she was selected as an Eiteljorg Contemporary Art Fellow (Eiteljorg Museum, Indianapolis, Indiana), and in 2024, she was a finalist for the international Loewe Craft Prize (Loewe Foundation, Madrid, Spain). PHIL HAWKINS is a Los Angeles-based multidisciplinary contemporary artist focusing on installation and sculpture. JEREMY JONES, originally from Casper, Wyoming, received a BFA in ceramics and sculpture from the University of Wyoming in 2006 and an MFA in sculpture from Wichita State University in 2012. Jones maintains a home studio in New Brighton, Minnesota, where he works in a plethora of mediums, including ceramics, casting, woodworking, welding, found-objects, and drawing. For over ten years, he has focused on a body of work that reflects his role as a parent, creating toy-like sculptures and assemblages that enshrine the everyday moments of parenthood. Jones is a ceramics instructor at Interact Center for the Visual and Performing Arts in St. Paul, Minnesota. Since 2023, Jones has been a Pottery and Wheel Work Instructor at Saint Paul Public Schools: Community Education in St. Paul, Minnesota.
"I work intuitively with clay, and utilize the plasticity of the material to create my haunting and gestural figures. My clay vessels are loosely formed with coils; I then push and pull the material until a face emerges. The faces seem to manifest from an unknown space, as if I'm channeling a "being" into existence. The void inside of the vessel symbolizes the consciousness: the vast, invisible, and largely unknown space of the mind."

JUN KANEKO was born in Japan in 1942. He came to the United States in 1963 to study at Chouinard Institute of Art in Los Angeles, and became part of the Contemporary Ceramics movement in America in the late '60s and early '70s. The following decade, Kaneko taught at some of the nation's leading art schools including Scripps College, Rhode Island School of Design, and Cranbrook Academy of Art. Based in Omaha since 1986, Kaneko has worked at several experimental studios around the world. Over the course of his career he has partnered with industrial facilities to realize large-scale, hand-built sculptures. Kaneko is increasingly drawn to installations that promote civic interaction. He has completed over fifty public art commissions, including the most recent, Glass Tower, in downtown Lincoln, Nebraska. CHARLES KAY JR. is a first-generation Thai American-born artist, born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. In 1992 Charles graduated from Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California. Charles has been known for his black and white architectural series titled Paris Still Lifes, which is included in the Fred and Pamela Buffett Cancer Centers permanent collection. Commercial projects have taken Charles around the world and allowed him to create a large body of work for his fine art series. JENNIFER LING DATCHUK is an artist born in Warren, Ohio and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Her work is an exploration of her layered identity-as a woman, a Chinese woman, as an "American," as a third culture kid. Trained in ceramics, Datchuk works with porcelain and other materials often associated with traditional women's work, such as textiles and hair, to discuss fragility, beauty, femininity, intersectionality, identity, and personal history. In 2017, she received the Emerging Voices award from the American Craft Council and in 2020 was named a United States Artist Fellow in Craft. TODD MCCOLLISTER has two art careers: sculptor and furniture maker. The sculptures are wood and mixed media (including wire, string, and found objects), and the furniture pieces are almost entirely wood. He earned a BFA in sculpture and photography in 1996 from Texas Christian University and an MFA in sculpture in 2000 from Stony Brook University. He then moved to New York City, first pursuing sculpture and shifting to furniture in 2006. In 2014 McCollister brought what he learned back to his hometown of Omaha, Nebraska, and founded Long Grain Furniture. He is an active member of the Omaha art community and believes in supporting his fellow artists as a path to everyone's success. He's currently running a monthly event series called "Final Fridays at Todd's," aimed at bringing the community together to make us all stronger through networking and sharing experiences and information. He's the 2022 recipient of the Omaha Entertainment and Arts Award for Outstanding 3-D Artist.

EAMON MCGIVERN (b.1990) is an artist from San Francisco who has spent the past seven years in the Bay Area painting portraits of queers, punks, and poets. More recently, he has been delving into the archives of twentieth century LGBTQ history, picking up strands from holes in the historical narratives in attempts to darn the tears between the past and present wrought by political oppression, transphobia, and the HIV/AIDS epidemic. His work feels into the sorrow born from the absence of the queer and trans people who would have been the teachers, mentors, parents, and grandparents of his generation and the effect their deaths have on contemporary life. He holds a BFA with honors in painting from the Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, New York and an MA in Fine Arts from the Chelsea College, London. He is a two time recipient of the San Francisco Arts Commission's Individual Artists Grant, a former artist-in-residence at Bemis Center in Omaha, Nebraska and Residency 11:11 in London.

JOSH POWELL is a mixed-media artist. He earned a BFA at the University of Nebraska Omaha. Powell is a visionary storyteller through his images. He is inspired by pop culture and folklore. THOMAS PRINZ is the principal of Arc-Studio, which is located in Omaha and was established in 1990 to explore the disciplines of art and architecture. There are three main bodies of work I'm creating that are nature-inspired from landscapes, seed shapes, and organic forms. I am exploring the theme of nature's cycles through photo-based paintings, circular wall installations, and organic sculpture using steel wire and pleated aluminum. I am working to develop scale, geometry, spatial relationships, texture, and color. These works embrace the textural properties of encaustic (beeswax, pigment, and damar resin) paintings and sculpture with translucency and dimensionality. He has been a studio assistant to artists Jun Kaneko, Conrad Snider, and John Balistreri. Reynek has adjunct-taught at Butler Community College, Wichita State University, and Newman University. His works involve abstract ceramic sculptures derived from experiences and visions one may encounter when moving through urban environments. Reynek has been a resident artist at Watershed Center For Ceramics Arts and exhibited in Wichita's national juried exhibition and "Beyond the Brick Yard" tenth annual exhibition in Helena, Montana.

TIM RICKETT is an artist and educator based in northeastern South Dakota. He employs the practice of bricolage to create work that explores ideas of nostalgia, politics, history, and the Anthropocene. LEE EMMA RUNNING is an artist based in Omaha, Nebraska who creates monumental public installations and arresting sculptures with cast iron, enamel, glass, bone, and handmade paper. She uses this work to engage audiences in conversations about the impact of human-built systems on the natural world. Running was a Foundry Resident in the Arts/Industry program at Kohler Co. in 2023 and 2004. EMMA MCKAY RYAN grew up on a farm outside of Minden, Nebraska. LISSA SCOTLAND explores nature, flowers, landscapes, and the "pretty" subjects. She questions, "what makes something beautiful?" Using layers of paint, Scotland creates depth within the piece, staying curious with her colors and marks. Her use of color is often bold and surprising. Born in 1978 in Omaha, Nebraska, Scotland grew up in the Midwest. She found painting to be a therapy for the crippling anxiety that had taken over her early years. JEFF SEDREL works with ink and acrylic on paper or canvas in Omaha, Nebraska. Color is the central focus of Sedrel's series of floral paintings, executed by infusing ink and brush painting with impressionist sensibilities. VITUS SHELL is a mixed-media collage painter born in Monroe, Louisiana, where he lives and works. THERMAN STATOM is a sculptor/painter most notably known as a pioneer of the contemporary glass movement for his life-size glass ladders, chairs, tables, constructed box-like paintings, and small-scale houses-all created through the technique of gluing glass plates together. Sandblasted surfaces become a canvas for spontaneous vibrant colors and line work, which take nuances from Abstract Expressionism and concepts of Minimalism, while simultaneously incorporating a twist by using blown-glass elements and found objects. Throughout his career, public artworks have been permanently installed at prominent locations including the Los Angeles Public Library, Corning, Inc. Headquarters, the Mayo Clinic, San Jose Ice Center, the Toledo Museum of Art, and the Jepson Center for the Arts in the Telfair Museum, Savannah as well as several hospitals across the country. His artwork appears in numerous exhibitions annually, including solo and group shows around the nation and internationally. Statom has completed over thirty large, site-specific installations. Most notably, his 2009 solo exhibition, Stories of the New World at the Orlando Museum of Art, spanned over 7,000 square feet and has been his largest installation to date. Much of the latter half of Statom's career has been focused on the importance of educational programming within the arts. He has taken a deep interest in employing workshops as a catalyst for social change and in effect, positively impacting a community. Statom studied at Pilchuck Glass School, received a BFA from Rhode Island School Of Design, and later studied at the Pratt Institute of Art & Design.

IGGY SUMNIK is well-known to the Omaha art community as a talented ceramic sculptor, artist, community arts educator, friend, and studio host. His many Omaha accomplishments include a Kaneko apprenticeship concluded in 2008. Iggy held connections between Omaha and his Detroit home where he maintained the Art By Iggy Studio full-time. His iconic works include jellybeans, stylized fish, birds (often on a wire), and other forms. Iggy's real love was creating imaginative, one-of-a-kind sculptures of unusual shape and statement; he left a legacy of sculptures when an illness unexpectedly took his life in 2023. Two pieces are presented here.

"I celebrate my vibrant and colorful heritage with all its glory of patterns and textures and geometric form which innately exudes from me. My work is inspired by techniques used in batiking. When the elements of batiking are translated onto wood or canvas, there is a layering of different colors, patterns, and textures. The relationship between these three elements create a unique harmony within the elements of each design. Through the years, my work has changed and evolved, giving me a sense of purpose and a vehicle to express my feelings and desires. My style of painting has allowed me to encompass methods of expression utilized by my ancestors and adds a modern relevance to my growth as a proud black female artist. Through my work I have created three layers of stimulation by using layers of colors, textures and lines within each design. Your eye stimulation is my inspiration. I am exploring what happens with lines and within lines of colors because the way colors change next to another color excites me."

BEVERLY TODD's art playfully dances with color & movement. Her large-scale abstract painting process is physical, using hardware store brushes, broken sticks, rags, and hands to drip, scrape, wipe, and pull paint across surfaces. KATHLEEN VAN LIEU is self-taught, her painting style gathering elements from artistic movements she has found inspiring. LAURIE VICTOR KAY (b. 1971) is a multidisciplinary artist whose work blurs the lines between photography, painting, installation and digital mediums to address constructed imagination, idealization and a sense of the surreal. MARY ZICAFOOSE is a tapestry weaver who works from her rural Pahuk studio in Cedar Bluffs, Nebraska. The template of her work in cloth and paper is drawn primarily from two sources: the landscape of the Great Plains and a fascination with archetypal symbols, deeply color saturated and technically layered using the complex resist-dye process known as ikat. Extensive exhibition, teaching, and lecture venues include the de Young Museum, San Francisco, Penland School of Craft, Penland, North Carolina, Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and universities, conferences, and textile programs worldwide. She is the author of Ikat: The Essential Handbook to Weaving Resist-Dyed Cloth, with a companion book to be released in 2024.
